"Canton"
(Click on designs for ordering info.)
Artist's canvas is primed, hand painted, hand stenciled and sealed with a water-based varnish.
The placemats are easy to wipe clean and measure approximately 12" x 15".
The design showcases the stencil until covered by a dinner plate. Once the dinner plate is placed, the stencil design will not interfere with the plate's pattern.

"Made by hand and made with care, but tiny "oops" you may find there."
The Canton pattern was devised in the second half of the nineteenth century,
and it takes its name from the place where most Chinese porcelain exported to
Europe in the 18th and 19th centuries was made. Its motifs are intended to be
symbols of productivity and prosperity.
